Social Media Manager, Photographer, and Teacher in Bellingham, Washington
I am the head of social media at Western Washington University, from which I graduated in 2006 with a degree in journalism.
I attempt to share Western's strengths on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Google+ and LinkedIn. I love the job because it allows me to converse daily with Western's wonderful students, faculty, staff and alumni. I'm also the person behind Western Today, for which I draw heavily on my background in community journalism.
I teach on occasion in Western's amazing journalism department. I've taught newswriting (J207), editing (J309) and principles of public relations (J330). In the fall of 2015, I'm teaching a class for community members on using social media to build community through Western's Extended Education.
When I'm not at work, I'm probably working on remodeling my home with my wife, Brittany, our son, Elijah, and any foster children we happen to be blessed with at the time. Or I'll be out riding my bike, taking pictures, re-learning the guitar, attempting to make better coffee or hanging out with friends from church.
