Helder Sousa

Helder Sousa. Dr, Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Surrey, UK, currently working in the European project 'SmartEn' ITN as an Experienced Researcher. Received his PhD in 2012 at the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, Portugal with the work entitled: "Data-based engineering techniques for the management of concrete bridges". Participation in several research projects (since 2003) in the field of bridge structural health monitoring (SHM), namely, project design, field implementation and assessment of structural safety based on data-based engineering techniques. With focus on bridge management based on monitoring data, his research interests include optimization and design of monitoring systems, pattern recognition, software packages development and optimized FEM devoted to SHM.
