Hiba Ahmed

My name is Hiba Ahmed and I am a sophomore at Illinois State University studying Secondary Education English and ESL, from Skokie, IL. Besides teaching and interning with the Golden Apple Teaching Foundation, my passions lie in gardening, exercising, reading, traveling, learning about new cultures, and playing my violin. Whenever I participate in any of those activities, I'm always making sure that I give my best effort. I've adopted many values and have always been grounded by my hardworking parents, who immigrated to the U.S. from India about 20 years ago. I have two sisters and one brother, and I am smack in the middle! I love my family and I enjoy being in my family's company, even though it can get chaotic and dysfunctional at times. I relish the Indian and Muslim culture I have grown up with and I'm glad that I'm able to maintain that while still being able to identify myself as a proud American, born and raised! I surround myself with those that encourage and support me, and I love meeting new people. My supportive "rocks" include my family, and my diverse groups of friends from home, from Illinois State, and from Golden Apple. I like to think that I have a positive, sassy, and realistic personality, and I truly believe laughter is the best medicine. Thank you for visiting this page!
