Higher Hopes

International

Higher Hopes has been working for the last 5 years to develop a methodology that would form its foundation from the context of the community being served and hold the scientific rigor to be embraced as an evidenced based program and best
practice. Higher Hopes has built an expansive history working in the trenches, specifically targeting "At Hope" communities, to build resilience and transformation with children as well as their parents and families. We have worked with numerous programs and agencies around the globe that focused on youth development and community building. We have worked in some of the most challenging environments and have facilitated transformative growth through very intense situations such as domestic, social and political violence, heavy drug abuse, political unrest, communities plagued with gangs and crews, poverty to the extent that children were starving, homelessness as well as rural communities in America and abroad that do not even have running water. We have worked with Native American reservations as well as communities where there were huge immigrant populations with language barriers. Along with this expansive, firsthand knowledge base that can only come from working on the ground, we conducted a comprehensive review of the literature, held focus groups and interviews with elders, business owners, parents, teachers, counselors, youth, clergy and other key stakeholders such as government agencies and funders to ensure that we could speak intelligently about youth and community issues in America and abroad, embrace like-minded partners and develop a comprehensive vision from a holistic lens.
