Hikmet Geçkil, TÜBİTAK bursiyeri olarak yüksek lisansını İnönü Üniversitesinde, MEB bursiyeri (Türkiye 2.si) olarak doktorasını Illinois Institute of Technology'de (IIT, Chicago) yaptı. IIT'de 4 yıl öğretim görevlisi olarak çalıştı.

İsrail-CHI bursu ile Ben-Gurion Üniversitesi’nde 1 yıl doktora sonrası araştırma yaptı.

Harvard Üniversitesi ve Massachusetts Teknoloji Enstitüsü (MIT)'de 6 ay Fulbright burslusu olarak çalıştı.

Araştırma alanı Genetik Mühendislik olup, halen İnönü Üniversitesi Moleküler Biyoloji ve Genetik Bölümünde öğretim üyesidir.

Hikmet Geckil is a Turkish academic who received a PhD degree in the area of Genetic Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT, Chicago) where he was also a teaching assistant for four years.

A one year postdoctoral study at Ben Gurion University and a Fulbright Fellowship for 6 months at Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are among his science endeavors.

His research is in the area of genetic engineering. His current affiliation is with the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Inonu University.
