After completing a six million dollar renovation, RFID project, and ILS migration for the City of Santa Fe Springs,CA, I am looking forward to being more involved in CLA, and advocating for libraries. I believe that better library service comes from strong literacy and civic engagement components and using emerging technologies in entrepreneurial ways. I feel strongly that implementing innovative library designs and interiors result in greater access, usage, and community involvement. So too, is guiding staff through this wilderness and creating new and more efficient workflows that allow us to be nimble and responsive to change. Training and motivating our new leaders to build dynamic and forward thinking teams is crucial to achieving our goals. I understand how important it is to build consensus and clearly communicate the long and short-term goals of the library. I also see the benefits of offering traditional library services, but I realize the value in recognizing and importing useful ideas from other disciplines and industries. I hope to impart my vision of the library as a destination for civic engagement that is responsive to its users.
