Hiroaki Nishikawara
Attorney Hiroaki Nishikawara is counsel in both the Labor and Employment Law department and the Business department at Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Indianapolis, Indiana. There, he undertakes a large number of responsibilities that includes conducting legal research, drafting motions and memoranda, reviewing employment policies, corresponding with clients regarding all facets of employment decisions, interfacing with the firm’s Japanese clients, providing training to clients in a variety of legal topics, and defending clients against lawsuits regarding discrimination, wrongful discharge, retaliation, and other employment claims. Before Hiroaki Nishikawara started at Barnes & Thornburg in 2004, he worked as a Legal Assistant at a New York City international law firm, where he prepared immigrant and non-immigrant visas for multinational corporations.
Hiroaki Nishikawara graduated from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago with his Juris Doctor and was on the Dean’s list for three semesters while there. Before that, Hiroaki Nishikawara was a visiting student at the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, and he spent time as an undergraduate at both Washington, D.C.’s American University, where he studied U.S. Foreign Policy for a semester, and Wheaton, Illinois' Wheaton College, where he graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In 2004, he passed the Indiana State Bar exam and became licensed to practice in the United States District Courts of the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana as well as the Indiana Supreme Court. In October 2008, Hiroaki Nishikawara received license to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
When Hiroaki Nishikawara is not working, he may be found at a movie; he enjoys all genres from comedy to drama. He also likes to go on drives, travel to auto shows, and check out new restaurants. Hiroaki Nishikawara is a sports fan and admits to being loyal to the Chicago Bears since he grew up in that city, but he also now roots for the Indianapolis Colts. He likes to read and lists authors Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov, Dan Simmons, and Haruki Murakami among his favorites.
