Maestoso Music Lessons

I am a private music teacher based in Broadstairs, Kent, teaching singing, piano, keyboard and music theory. I teach all ages, abilities, and will tailor lessons to you, whether it is for enjoyment or grades.

Singing: all genres and voices, specialising in Jazz, Gospel, Pop and Musical theatre

Piano: specialising in Pop and Classical

Keyboard: specialising in Pop

Theory: Classical Music Theory

Composition/songwriting: specialising in Musical Theatre, Jazz big band/swing bands, and Pop songs.

Through my degree and teaching privately, I have worked with a wide range of ages and abilities, and always welcome a challenge. I currently have students ranging from beginners to grade 8, teaching children, teenagers and adults. I have been singing since a young age, achieving distinction in my Grade 8 singing at the age of 18. In July 2012, I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Music at the University of York, first study Jazz Singing. I have sung with other jazz singers and collaborated with the likes of John Taylor and Johnathon Eato during my degree. I have been singing Pop, Gospel and Musical Theatre songs for years, performing them in concerts, gigs, festivals, etc. I ran the university's Music Department's gospel choir, Zamar, for 2 years, coaching many students through solo performance as well as conducting/leading a large choir, including teaching harmonies. During my degree, a working knowledge of music theory was essential, as well as good keyboard skills.

I thoroughly enjoy writing musicals. I scripted, composed, directed and produced an original 90-minute musical, performed in 2012. From this, I have experience in how to coach/direct students in musical theatre performance, and can teach musical theatre composition.

I was part of MEG (the Music Education Group) while at university. I ran gospel workshops teaching singing and harmony in primary schools throughout York. I have volunteered at schools in my area helping with their extra-curricular music too, earning valuable experience working with children.
