Heather Mundy

East Amherst, NY

I joined the English Department at West Seneca West Senior High School in 2006 after completing my first year of teaching at Chautauqua Lake High School, also in Western New York. In addition to the work I do as a classroom teacher, I spend time working as an education consultant, growing professionally through research, reading, and professional learning communities, creating curriculum, and presenting at educational conferences (NYSEC and Innovative Teaching).

Collaborative learning is at the center of my teaching philosophy. I enjoy fusing my ideas with colleagues' to produce curriculum and asking my students to work together to further their own learning. Educational technology plays a large part in my classroom because of this belief. I am perpetually learning about Creative Writing, gender differences in the classroom, and Young Adult literature.

After graduating with BAs in both English and Secondary Education from the State University of New York at Fredonia, I earned a MS in Educational Technology from Buffalo State University.
