That quote speaks of what is important to me in life. I greatly enjoy learning about people and culture both formally (academically - I have a PhD and work in universities) and informally (through day to day life and the travel that I live for). I teach and I continue to learn about the nexus between culture and learning in life, education and business.
Despite the fact that I have great respect for all religions, I suspect that we are only here once: thus I believe in making the most of it. Work has to have meaning, and every day is a learning opportunity. Quite often I learn much more from my travels than I do from my 'work'.
My hobbies also relate to the small aspects of day to day life and the little things that make our lives beautiful. I enjoy photography and I make glass tile jewellery using my photos of small details I see in my travels.
Oh, and how could I forget? I'm also something of a foodie.
