When my husband decided to start home brewing, I have to admit I wasn't interested in taking part. You see he started out with extract brewing. Our kitchen looked like a mini brewery. The counters were lined with powdered malts and liquid extracts. Talk about a sticky mess, if you are not careful. At that time, I was his assistant or mainly kept him company. Over time, I started learning a little more about home brewing and decided I wanted to give it a try. My first home brew was a Honey Porter, with heavy emphasis on honey. I thought it would be a great idea to enter this concoction in a home brew competition. Let's just say, it wasn't a hit. But, that experience did not deter me from pressing on. With a few more extract brew days under my belt and some tasty craft beer to accompany, I decided it was time to enter another home brew competition. The recipe, Irish Red Ale. The competition result, I did not place but I scored a 40 out of 50 on my score sheet. As a new brewer, I'll take that. Now as an all-grain home brewer, I am learning a different dynamic of brewing. I have to say, I wasn't sure home brewing would be for me, but it is. Admittedly, I still feel like a beginner. There's so much to learn and so many recipes to brew. Join me on my journey as I delve into the art of home brewing.

Cheers!
