The Italian Amateur Film Archive was born over ten years ago with the mission to preserve and harness the amateur and family film, a still hidden and inaccessible audiovisual heritage. The Archive was founded and is managed by Home Movies Association, a research group involved, still 2002, in promoting and organizing the study, storage and enhancement of amateur and family film.

Home Movies collects the films preserved by Italian families, with the aim to take care of the immense patrimony that they represent.

Over time Home Movies' range of interest and action widened, including the recovery of audiovisual archives in possession of different subjects such as companies, schools, parishes, associations, and more.
