Lance Homman

Soon-to-be-retired Letter Carrier and Freelance Writer in Abilene, Kansas

Hire me

Greetings, I’m Lance, a retired career Letter Carrier living in Abilene, Kansas where I'm a fan of writing, DIY, and hunting with a passion for the outdoors and reading.

I have recently achieved the required age and time in service for me to retire from my current position as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 23 years. I recently retired on disability and am looking for new challenges in my new life.

Over the course of my life, I have worked a wide variety of jobs and have acquired a vast array of experiences and knowledge to carry me into the next phase of my life.

From my first job sacking groceries and stocking shelves at our small-town local grocery store at the age of twelve to present, I have never been without a job of some sort, be that as an employee or a full-time student.

I've worked in animal care training racing greyhounds, conducting behavioral research on owls, presented study results at a professional symposium, worked production manufacturing, served as a part-time Deputy Sheriff and 911 Dispatcher, volunteer firefighter where I became a Captain, career Emergency Medical Technician where I achieved the rank of Captain in my department, have been published over 100 times as a freelance outdoor writer whose work has appeared in multiple magazines both domestically and internationally, owned my own home-based business, successfully lobbied for policy changes to hunting regulations and worked for over two decades as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.

Throughout my life, I've purposefully stayed with jobs and attained each personal goal I set for myself and my employer. I am eager to continue that search for excellence going forward and I sincerely hope that I am someone that can be an asset in working for you. I'm excited at the prospect of answering any questions you might have, including references.
