I see the world as a "waiting room" before we move on to Heaven. God has stuck us here in the wilderness so that we can learn to serve Him before moving on to the Promised Land. Our purpose of waiting on Earth before going to Heaven is so that we can interact with other people in a positive manner. We are meant to cooperate and work with other people so that they can enjoy their time on Earth. We have to learn to put others' needs and wants before our own, because Jesus put our lives above His. We are called to act differently from the rest of the world, to act compassionately and mercifully, so that the world will recognize that we are set apart by God.
