HOPE Ministries

HOPE Ministries (Heal, Overcome, Persevere, Empower, is a ministry birthed out of the Spirit of God. Lisa Talbert, the founder, sought out God to be healed through my sexual assault as a teenager. I found by sharing the love of God and the healing He brought me, was more powerful than anything that ever could have been brought before me. Anything I ever tried before. No drug or alcohol, no man or woman was more powerful and gave me more HOPE than God.

Several years later, on two different occasions, I found sharing my story helped others who had similar stories and trials as myself. The healing I found by telling them the love God showed me, was an extra layer of healing for myself. I found myself volunteering for a non-profit in town that served the community in the areas of domestic abuse and sexual assault. It was through this community involvement that I found more healing.

As a believer, I have found it frustrating to fully reach out to these women, working in a secular program that discourages being the first to mention God. Don't get me wrong, this organization does amazing work for our community and people as a whole. It was and is through this volunteer work that I have found passion to help women who have been hurt and through this organization that my eyes have been opened. "Not in my community?" No, I'm sorry to tell you, I have witnessed horrible things and have heard heart wrenching stories. You cannot say, 'Not in my community', because that is a lie. The devil is prowling everywhere seeking to steal, kill and destroy. There is no community too small or too remote to feel the horror of violence.

In the fall of 2014, I met a special woman, through my volunteer work and we shared a powerful God moment. Four months later, I had a rare thing happen, I had the privilege to hear that she had made 'miraculous' healing and growth. I don't usually get a lot of follow up, I meet these women in crisis, and I never see them again. God spoke to me and started formulating a plan in me, to start HOPE Ministries. A place for women to Heal in Christ, Overcome the enemy (human and spiritual), Persevere in trials, and be Empowered to move on in life.

HOPE Ministries will be an every other month meeting, where someone shares their testimony of love and hope, or we hear an inspiring word from God, than the ladies will break into two support groups, one for domestic abuse, one for sexual assault survivors.
