CEO in Glen Ellen, California
As Founder, executive chef, and sommelier for the California bistro Horatius, Horacio Gomes leverages culinary experience gained in a life-changing trip to reconnect with his heritage in Portugal. Having first launched Horatius in 2009 in San Francisco, Horacio Gomes later sold the property to the California College of the Arts and embarked on his trip to Portugal. Upon returning in 2016, he re-launched Horatius in Glen Ellen, where he prepares fresh soups and delicious recipes, and operates a Portuguese-focused wine bar. He also manages marketing aspects of the business.
Prior to developing Horatius, Horacio Gomes was in marketing for over 25 years, most of which he spent as chief creative officer and president of HeadQuarters Advertising, the first Hispanic agency in Northern California which he founded in 1987. Additionally, he served as a member and president of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA).
Mr. Gomes holds a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of San Francisco. Outside of his professional responsibilities, he enjoys traveling the world, particularly to Portugal, and keeps himself up to date on the country's latest culinary trends and flavors.
