Born in Alaska to Detroiters Albert Yuhasz & Donna Bastien Yuhasz that came up to start a construction company - A & G Construction - my beginning in the "Last Frontier" in 1955 is truly book worthy and I am working on that. My life as an Alaskan is rich and full as our family found ourselves following my Father's many road construction jobs. I was my Father's "son" and loved being outdoors or with him building an addition on our home. I was a huge lover of all creatures, but horses the most. I found a way to be around them every chance I could, starting with 4-H at age 8 at the Rocking B Appaloosa Ranch. I rescued my first horse in 1966 and am still doing so today. I wanted to work with troubled youth in college and got my AAS degree in Human Services - Youth & Family at the University of Alaska - Anchorage. I met my Michiganer husband SGT Ronald A. Austin Sr. as he waited on me at a service station in March of 1974 & we married in February 1975. After working construction on the Alaska Pipeline, in August of 1977 we purchased Turnagain Union 76 service station so we could settle down and start a family. Son Ronald Jr. was born May 14 1977, son Camron 12:30 March 1, 1980, missing being a Leap Year baby, and son Drake was born at home August 11, 1987 - all in Anchorage. After fighting to get the birth I wanted, I became a certified childbirth educator in 1978, a job that was my passion. Ron & I love classic cars, owning 1960 & 1967 Corvettes, Harley Davidsons and primitive antiques. In 1984 our service station was condemned for a road widening and Ron went to work for the City of Anchorage as a heavy equipment operator. I continued to work in family agencies, becoming the Exe. Director of two nonprofits till Ron was completely disabled in a car accident in 1991. Unable to work or play, we moved to Titusville Florida in January of 1993 to be near my parents. No job, no house - it was a new beginning. I missed my horses. I founded & started a horse rescue and therapeutic riding center in 1998 called HorseSisters and it's still going strong. I am the happiest Nana/Oma to Ray's daughter Natalie, born in Nov. 1998 and Cam's daughter Alyce, born in April 2009. You can find me driving a horse drawn carriage, wagon, or funeral caisson all over Florida. I am a fierce protector of the underdog, busy in LBGT rights and defender of all animals, but especially horses. I practice Native American spiritually daily.
