Automatic Door History

Horton Automatics Inc was founded in 1960 by Dee Horton and Lew Hewitt, who invented the automatic sliding door in the mid-1950s. When they realized that swing doors were not suitable for windy Corpus Christi, they created a new industry and introduced the first commercially-available automatic sliding door.
