The hotel was established in 1955 as the first hotel in Agra after India’s independence and has grown along with the city itself. It sits on Civil Lines, one of the poshest areas of Agra, with rooms and corridors that still echo the sounds of the past. Goverdhan Hotel has been around long enough to be the face of the location and lives in the minds of the people of Agra as a prominent landmark in the city.
