Howard Fooksman

Welcome to my About.Me page. I am a former chef, mortgage banker, car salesman, waiter, bouncer and college dropout. I'm currently a Masters student in Rhetoric and Professional Writing at Michigan State University, in East Lansing. My current research interests include digital discourse, anonymity studies, writing for online spaces, and YikYak

Among my academic accomplishments are my research and presention on the use of emerging technology, including Google Glass and augmented reality, in professional writing classes, and writing the feature article, focusing on the green efforts of the Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, MD, for the 2014 issue of #Sustain, a publication of Frostburg State University.

Before coming to Michigan State, I worked as a professional writer, with a concentration on sports and popular culture. I have publication credits that include Deadspin, Gunaxin, Orioles Outsider and SBNation. In addition, I've worked as a freelance writer specializing in website content for finance and real estate companies, drawing from my decade of experience in the mortgage industry.
