Howard Paley

Life is a journey... meant to be shared. Howard Paley graduated from the University of Arizona in 1978 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture. He was employed as a Rangeland Specialist by the Bureau of Land Management on the Arizona Strip for two years and returned to the U of A in 1980 for post graduate studies in International Extension Education. Paley changed careers paths in 1982 and launched REC Computer Services where he co-wrote and produced several software programs: ACTION© an asset accounting system for pension plan administration, SAM© a statistical model for stock market analysis, TRACK a real estate site registration system, MailMaster© an integrated mailing platform, and CheckMaster© a personal checkbook management program. In 1992, Howard launched AcuComm, Inc. - a privately held Arizona corporation that specializes in marketing consulting, strategic planning, and fundraising. AcuComm worked for a broad range of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations to produce a host of marketing and fundraising projects, including: brochures, annual reports, newsletters, videos, websites, annual appeals, capital campaigns, and special events. As capital campaign counsel, AcuComm helped Yuma Community Food Bank raise more than $3.0 million to acquire a new warehouse facility. In 2003, Howard served on the executive team of InSpeech, Inc. to help grow this company from 7 to 35 licensed speech-language pathologists and increase revenues to more than $3 million annually. In 2005, Paley served as development counsel to Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest to manage and produce its marketing and fundraising programs. He also served as capital campaign counsel to Congregation Or Chadash and raised more than $1.6 million to secure its campus and financial future. Howard is a founding board member and general manager of Phoenix Opera Company. In 2006, he worked with founders John Massaro and Gail Dubinbaum to help develop the financial pro forma, marketing and overall fundraising strategy for this new performing arts company. Today, Phoenix Opera is regarded as one of the finest opera companies in America. In his role as General Manager, Paley has designed and produced the opera company's theatre programs, posters and marketing materials. He was also instrumental in launching The Southwest Vocal Competition in 2014 - A Showcase of Excellence in Voice and Vocal Health - sponsored by the Mayo Clinic Voice Program in Arizona.
