Harrison Sulit-Swalley began his musical quest at age three with the cello, then moved to trumpet when he was five. A year later he had the good fortune of meeting and being mentored by Wynton Marsalis. When he was twelve he was given the opportunity to play the Haydn Trumpet Concerto with the Santa Barbara Symphony, and when he was thirteen he was accepted to The Special Music School in Manhattan. He returned to Santa Barbara for high school, where he played lead trumpet for the high school jazz band, played second trumpet with the Santa Barbara City College Good Times jazz band, and played in the orchestra for many theatre productions, including the high school premier of Tarzan, Hairspray, Singin' in the Rain, Anything Goes, The Wiz, and Pinnochio. Instead of attending his senior year of high school, he decided to graduate a year early to attend SBCC to pursue music full time. While at SBCC he played with the Lunch Break Jazz Band, which became the first community college jazz band to make the finals of the Next Generation Jazz Festival in Monterey. In addition to Mr. Marsalis, Harrison has taken private lessons with Rob Roy McGregor, Jon Lewis, Joe Burgstaller, and Marcus Printup. Harrison is currently attending Berklee College of Music where he plans to pursue Music Therapy.
