Throughout my time at the University of Delaware, I have been extremely fortunate to gain so much knowledge and develop my skills in all areas of the fashion industry. I have taken several design courses such as patternmaking, knitwear design, sustainability, fashion drawing, draping, and forecast trend research. These courses have helped me develop other skills such as styling the garments being made, determining a market, and presentation and delivery of mood boards and concepts. When having to present our ideas to apparel industry professionals, I have taken pride in my ability to take creative direction in the photoshoots and portraying a story to the viewer. When creative directing, I enjoy photographing my designs, finding locations to set the mood of the clothing or line, and using Photoshop or Illustrator to edit the photos.

Being Vice President of Synergy Fashion at the University of Delaware has given me the opportunity to advance my creative vision and be able to alter garments to fit a model’s body. Working alongside many talented designers on the E-board has helped me work collaboratively with a team to figure out logistics of the fashion show and plan events. I have to stay in constant contact with the fashion faculty at UD, hundreds of general members, and the E-board so everyone can be on the same page. This has allowed me to advance my communication skills and has shaped me into a leader.

I would love to help a company with sustainability practices and use my role as a designer to come up with zero waste designs or ethically sourced materials from supply chains. I truly believe designing for sustainability will continue to be relevant in the future as brands are noticing consumers pushing back against fast fashion and are secondhand shopping more than ever. From upcycling clothes, utilizing fabric scrap, having less product waste, and working with natural fibers, I have many useful ideas on how to help a company be more environmentally friendly. Even though I love to express myself in my designs and my clothing, I’m very passionate about slow fashion and creating content that is made with the planet in mind.
