Producer and voiceover coach in Sunnyside, NY, USA
Hugh P. Klitzke is a voiceover coach, director and producer in New York City. He teaches the conversational read, self-direction, the commercial read, and directs auditions.
He writes: “In conversational voiceover, you've got to adapt your performance to fairly rigid forms, while using them so fluently; that listeners are unaware of their artificiality.”
For nearly fifteen years Hugh was the Voiceover Studio Manager at Buchwald, New York. He has directed booking auditions for commercials, animation, ADR, politicals, podcasts, narration, games, audiobooks, promos, affiliates, trailers, e-learning, and industrials.
To date, Hugh has directed over 125,000 auditions and counting.
Now along with teaching classes and private coaching, he is writing two books. (Maybe three). One compiles the ideas he explored in his blog, the other is on the conversational read, and the third one may be a chapbook about changes in both the voiceover industry and the culture around it. Hugh has written over three hundred blog posts on voiceover and contributed an essay to the sixth edition of The Art of Voice Acting by James Alburger.
Hugh has also been the head of sound for Penn and Teller, an Equity Stage Manager, producer at the Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn (now Detroit), an award winning composer and lyricist for theater, film and digital media, a lecturer on music theory at SUNY Purchase, assistant to a Baroque trumpet scholar, a certified K-12 music teacher and a two time marathon finisher.
When he finally finishes his new website, you will find him online at hughpklitzke.com. But until then, email him at [email protected]
