Hukun Dabar
Consultant, Small Business Owner, and Project Manager in Fargo, ND
I am Hukun Dabar, an accomplished entrepreneur and nonprofit leader with over ten years of experience driving community development and inclusivity. My passion for empowering underserved communities has led me to co-found the Afro-American Development Association (AADA), the Ethnic Self Alliance for Refugee Assistance (Eshara), and Rising Nomads. These three organizations have made a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals.
Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, I have successfully founded and sold several companies, harnessing my business acumen to create thriving ventures across various sectors.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree from the Minnesota State University of Moorhead and certification from Harvard Business School's Minnesota Young American Leaders Program. My academic background has provided me with a solid foundation for community development and advocacy work.
Throughout my decade of work with AADA and its partner organizations, I have honed my strategic planning, project management, and community engagement skills. These skills have enabled me to successfully raise over $11 million for various community projects and make a lasting impact on the communities we serve. As a dedicated advocate, I have also lobbied for bills in Minnesota and North Dakota to protect the rights and well-being of communities.
In addition to my work with AADA and Eshara, I serve as the Co-Founder and Country Director for Rising Nomads. I have played an instrumental role in expanding the organization's presence in the Horn of Africa, specifically in Somalia and Kenya.
Throughout my career, I have been honored to serve on various councils and task forces, including the Council of Minnesotans of African Heritage, the Minnesota Governor's Task Force on Housing, and the Minneapolis Public Housing Advisory Council. My dedication to creating a more inclusive world has been recognized with awards such as the City of Fargo MLK Youth Award (2017) and the City of Moorhead MLK Youth Award (2022).
As a transformative visionary, I am committed to utilizing my skills and experiences to make a lasting impact on the lives of others. I am always eager to connect with like-minded individuals, organizations, and communities that share my passion for driving positive change and fostering an inclusive world.
