Humayun Nosheerwan
Higher Education Researcher, International Education Professional, and Small Business Owner
My life has been shaped by the opportunities that education made possible. From Pakistan to Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Middle East, every stage of my journey has reinforced one conviction: education is one of the most powerful catalysts for social mobility, innovation, and global understanding. Today, that belief fuels my research, my professional work, and my commitment to helping others unlock opportunities that can transform their own lives.
I am a higher education researcher, educator, and international education professional whose work sits at the intersection of student success, educational innovation, artificial intelligence, and global mobility. Over the past decade, I have worked with universities, nonprofits, and education organizations across multiple countries to design more inclusive, engaging, and technology-enabled learning experiences that help students thrive.
My research focuses on the experiences of international students, educational equity, digital transformation, and the future of AI in higher education. My scholarly journey began with research examining the study abroad, repatriation, and knowledge transfer experiences of Pakistani PhD scholars, and later expanded to investigating how universities can better support international students through AI-enabled and human-centred digital support systems. I am particularly interested in understanding how institutions can harness innovation without losing the human connections that are essential to learning and belonging.
I have been fortunate to receive opportunities that have profoundly shaped my perspective, including being selected as a Chevening Scholar at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and completing executive studies in higher education leadership at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Along the way, I have also been recognized through academic and leadership awards that reflect my commitment to excellence, service, and educational impact.
Beyond research and professional work, I am deeply passionate about mentoring aspiring students, researchers, and young professionals. Having personally navigated scholarships, international study, career transitions, and life across different countries, I understand both the excitement and uncertainty that accompany major decisions. I believe mentorship can open doors, build confidence, and help talented individuals realize opportunities they may never have imagined possible.
My mission is simple: to help individuals and institutions create pathways that enable more people to learn, grow, belong, and lead meaningful lives.
