LaMara Hunter-Kelly is a multi-talented individual with the gift to create expressive pieces. LaMara is Owner & CEO of Hunter Kelly Entertainment & Consulting, a Freelance Writer and Music Journalist. She’s also a Community Health Advocate and Program Coordinator for the “Microphones Up, Guns Down Initiative” and the “Paul L. Dunbar Expressive Writing Program”.As CEO of Hunter Kelly Entertainment & Consulting, she manages the day-to-day operations of the entertainment firm, consults with potential clients and produces quality entertainment events for consumers in Springfield, MA, Hartford, CT, New York City & Atlanta, GA areas.LaMara hosts the ‘Soul in the City’ blog, which was created to give an enhanced experience of the culture of Soul music As a Writer and Journalist, she’s had the good fortune to write for Total Eclipse and Lioness magazines and is now the Lead Writer for The SOULetter Magazine. Contributing to such publications has afforded her opportunities to work with some of the most amazing, Grammy-award nominated artists and record monumental events around the country. As a community health advocate, LaMara joined several boards including: the Alliance of Black Professionals, Faith-Based Health Alliance, Having a Ball, Keeping the Faith and Black Employees Connecting [a Baystate Health Employee Resource Group.] She is an ambassador for the American Heart & American Stroke Associations and was named in February 2012 as one of the “Go Red Leading Ladies of Western MA.”LaMara is a student and advocate of education and a leader in the non-violence movement. She created and facilitates two programs that focus on motivating young people. The ‘Paul Laurence Dunbar Expressive Writing Program’, which is a literacy program, caters to the creativity of young people by engaging them with the art of writing. ‘Microphones Up Guns Down’ is a conflict resolution initiative, which uses the arts of comedy, music and poetry to encourage young people to make the right choices in the midst of adversity.
