Hey, this is Hunter Surphlis! I'm currently a 21-year-old student at Ryerson University studying Sports Media while also pursuing a minor in social media marketing. Before Ryerson, I started my University career at Laurier in the Communications program for one year. After realizing it wasn't the path I wanted to take, I made the tough decision to switch into something I truly loved. With that in mind, I took a year off of school and eventually went ahead and applied for the only two programs that fit me the best: Sport Media (obviously) and Photography at OCAD.

From my first summer in University up until now, I've been lucky enough to have opportunities to work within companies as an intern. The highlights have been with Sportsnet on the assignment desk as well as being a runner for Baseball Central. Right now, I'm trying to find a perfect balance between work and school, where I'm interning two days a week helping manage various YouTube creators for the company Studio71.

When it comes to the future, my idea for what I want to do in life is still in the air. Sometimes I want to pursue a childhood dream of being on TV talking about sports, others I feel like what I want is going to be something that's created and built for myself. In a small attempt to do this, I've created websites, blogs, podcasts and other mediums to see what works and what doesn't.

Outside of school and sport, my passions lay within photography, reading, writing and anything that has to do with art. Being able to find something that allows me to be in a space with all of that is my one pure motivation.
