I'm an aspiring historian and culturalist with special interest in East and South East Asia. My current research interests lie at the crossroad of intellectual and social history. My hubs of interest widely range from the history of women and gender, social theories, war and revolutions to everyday life politics (the relationship between commoners and political superstructures). My senior thesis titled "From Iron Girl to Miss Shanghai: A Historical Analysis of Women's Images in the Cultural Revolution and Reform China", which is a study of shifting gender role across distinctive state-dictating ideologies and how this metamorphosis reflected the perception of gender status at this particular historical moment, is in process and expected to be finished by the beginning of May 2013. I expect to begin my first year of PhD study in September 2013.
