The Importance of Regular HVAC Maintenance Inspections
As in anything that works on top condition, an HVAC unit needs to be periodically checked and maintained to prevent issues from propping up and becoming an operational issue.
The San Diego HVAC Contractors’ Association advises homeowners to have their units checked at least twice a year, while doing filter replacements every three months or as recommended by the HVAC manufacturer.
According to the association, doing so will not only help prevent major HVAC issues, it can also prolong the life of the home’s HVAC Unit.
House Logic came up with a checklist to guide homeowners with their HVAC Maintenance responsibilities. In their checklist they recommended that the professional maintenance inspection be conducted during fall and spring.
“It’s a good idea to hire an HVAC company to inspect and do maintenance on your system every fall and spring. They’ll do things like inspect and clean the wiring and mechanisms of the unit, which is bit more challenging for the average homeowner.”

Professional maintenance needed
Home improvement website The Family Handyman has emphasized that professional inspection is warranted at least once a year to keep things running in good condition, regardless of the weather.
“HVAC systems are complex and should be serviced at least once a year. If your air conditioner or furnace keeps breaking down, it might be time to get a new HVAC system. Most systems last 10 to 14 years if maintained regularly and serviced when needed.”
