Biography
Dr. Jeffeory G. Hynes, Ed.D. is a full time Residential Faculty Professor with the Administration of Justice Studies within the Public Safety Sciences Department at Glendale Community College. Dr. Hynes who is a retired thirty-two year veteran (May, 1979 – August, 2011) of the Phoenix Police Department was promoted to the rank of Police Commander on 01/12/04 and. His last assignment with the Phoenix Police Department (December 2010) was overseeing the Desert Horizon and Black Mountain Precinct, from which he had approx. 450 officers under his command. Prior to that assignment he was within the Professional Standards Bureau from which he oversaw police misconduct investigations, internal audits/inspections, and the investigation of all police related shootings.
The Family Investigations Bureau which is an investigative assignment with 130 detectives was under his command from June 2007 through September 2009; overseeing investigations related to all sexual assaults, crimes against children, domestic violence, missing persons and vulnerable adults. From his promotion in 2004 he was assigned to the Tactical Support Bureau for six months, prior to being transferred to the Central City Precinct, 05/17/2004 where he was assigned to 07/03/2007
His last assignment as a Lieutenant, was at the Training Academy supervising the Advanced Training Unit from which he was responsible for all in-service related training for 3600 sworn and civilian employees (2001- 2004).
Prior to his assignment at the Training Bureau he was assigned as an Area Manager within the Central City Precinct and is nationally known as an exceptionally proactive problem-solver, having had at least two major action plans completed each of his five years while at the precinct (1996 – 2001).
