Christopher Johnson

G'day! I'm Chris, a South Australian born software engineering and game development enthusiast. I have an interest in the environment, psychology, reading, video games and programming.

My interest in games, started very early on. As a child I was exposed to many forms of play such as New Games that were played in junior primary school, board games through my family and sports through both school and family. However most importantly, at around the age of 6 I received a Nintendo Entertainment System which ignited the strong passion that I have for video games.

That passion has lead me to take an interest in mathematics(although I'm terrible at it), computers and programming. This lead to me making my own games, some of which you can play here. At present I'm strongly interested in creating games that are meaningful and fulfilling to players. My aspiration is in essence complex art, being art that doesn't just extend the complexity of the player but also expresses my deepest, personal thoughts.

I also love programming, it is an amazing, flow inducing, activity. I'm currently studying Software Engineering at the University of Adealaide, where I also work as a workshop supervisor, a top job! In the past I worked at a visual effects company programming pipeline tools.

Sharing passion and being around passionate people is something I love. As a result I helped run the Game Development Club at the University of Adelaide and am currently helping with this years Indie Games Room at AVCon.

I also greatly enjoying cycling, it makes me feel free, especially when there are no cars on the road. Along with cycling, I enjoy reading. My beautiful girlfriend got me back into reading but to her dismay I mostly read non-fiction. I take an interest in psychology, namely in positive psychology however other areas interest me too. I'm a supporter of socialism and care a great deal about the environment.
