Prior to joining Apple, Dr. Mika taught 4th & 5th grade in the regular education classroom for eight years before transitioning into the library/media center for the next nine years. Dr. Mika received a B.A. from Knox College, a Masters degree from Cambridge College, and a Doctorate of Education from Aurora University studying the mobile generation. He has spoken at myriad national EdTech and Library Media conferences and also participated as an Instructor for Illinois ILEAD USA. In September 2014 Dr. Mika was accepted to Indiana University Jacob's Educator program as the first teacher-librarian to incorporate inquiry learning in library media role. Named to the Apple Distinguished Educators, Class of 2011, Dr. Mika served on the US ADE Advisory Board (2012 - 2015) which is responsible for planning and implementing annual summer institutes.
