Digital Etiquette

What is it?

It is a basic set of rules you should follow in order to make the internet better for others, and also better for you. You should treat people nicely, as good as you should treat them face to face. When your chatting people don't know if your being sarcastic or not, so just try to be nice to everyone.

How can you be a Good Citizen?

Its really easy, just treat people the way you want to be treated, which is obviously nicely. People never wanted to be bullied, so don't do what you don't want to happen to you. If you don't want to be bullied, then don't bully other people. For example if you are making fun of someone, then they can't see your facial expressions to see if your being serious or not, so just be serious all the time, and you can just joke face to face, so they just see that you're joking.

How it affects you

Digital etiquette also affects me, because when I write email to teachers, I make sure that they are in the right format, and I make sure I am really polite. I usually use acronyms while im chatting with my friends. For example instead of you, I make it u. When I am typing with my teachers in an email, I make sure I don't use acronyms, and actually write a full word. It also affects me, because I am usually kind to people. People also have feelings. You know how in person you should be kind to people because they have feelings, well its the same. when your are on the computer, it doesn't mean that all of a sudden their feelings go away, so try to be as nice as you can on the computer. They aren't robots.
