Fluid
New Orleans by way of Atlanta
Fluid, born Christopher Coleman of Atlanta, Ga always had a passion for music. Being raised by his mother, a high school english teacher, studies were strictly enforced in the household. During his high school years, Chris became heavily influenced by artists such as Outkast, Scarface, Eminem, and Jay-Z. Subsequently, in between hitting the books, Chris would jot down lyrics just playing around. This practice became more frequent and he would challenge emcees at his school for rap battles, thus Fluid was born.
Going into his college years at Georgia State University, Fluid would frequent the Apache Cafe for open mics and rap battles to hone his skills, while hitting the studio to record freestyles and mixtapes. Along with his love for the microphone, Fluid also developed a love for the city life which included wild parties, alcohol and drugs. Fluid knew that he needed to develop a relationship with God, but his love of the fast life kept him from doing so.
In 2011 Fluid completed his first full length LP, entitled Unexpected Greatness. It was a 17 track offering that bragged on his lyrical prowess, egosim, and hedonism. During the recording process Fluid had been attending church regularly at the pulling of his wife, and had given his life to Christ. Subsequently, he wrote a song entiteld, Redemption. Although this song was Christ centered, the rest of the album was not, so when the copies of the album were pressed up, he threw all of them in the trash and began his new mission.
Now Fluid is hard at work on his album, Bread & Water, which is due out in 2014 under his Truth Spitters' Association imprint. The album already boasts production from Marv4MoBeats, Beat Politicians, Dirty Rice, and Steve T; and features artists like Ruslan, Dee-1, Mouthpi3ce, and Dre Murray. Fluid is still committed to making classic real hip-hop, but more importantly his goal is to create music that glorifies Jesus and challenges the idols of urban culture.
