Salim Mhunzi

Salim Mhunzi is a New York based writer, creative and founder of UNITE. He previously served in various marketing and business development roles within the music and fashion industry. A sociologist by training he is a graduate from the University of California, Riverside where he was an honors thesis award recipient. Post graduation he served as a research fellow at Columbia’s Buisiness School where he worked on due diligence for the FCC Broadband iniative. Following his fellowship, he went on to work with educators in the Bronx and Harlem. Inspired to be the change he wanted in the world, he moved towards thinking about market based solutions that would increase local job development through out his community as a small business consultant for startups and businesses in New York.

It is with this experience that he began to see the issue small businesses and talented entrepreneurs were facing with access to capital and decided to try to solve it.

Launched in March of 2013 ; Unite is a community platform for small businesses and entrepreneurs to crowd funding seed capital connect with local banking institutions to match and leverage loans for larger loan amounts.

Huffington Post recently published an Op-Ed Salim wrote about UNITE and there approach to fixing the capital access divide.

Salim is also developing an educational accelerator program for entrepreners called StartupFinishup to help individuals launch, scale and develop there ventures.
