Ian MacMenamin
Deventer, the Netherlands
As the big name above says, I'm Ian. I've been considering this introduction for a couple of minutes, wondering what I should tell you about myself.
Well, I'm a passionate, energetic kind of do-it-all or nothing, kind of fight the biggest fish in the ocean kind of guy. Whatever that means. I'm in the middle of starting my own business translating and writing copy, press releases for a couple of pretty cool companies (Chordify.net, TEDxSaxionUniversity.com, check them out!). It appears to me that writing is something I love doing.
It's about the human factor in everything, though. That means that simply writing isn't enough. You have to convey a point in such a way that it appeals to someones core belief. This is true from both a commercial as an educational perspective. Too few teachers understand that learning is a game of inspiration and wisdom. You need both and your student needs to feel both equally and totally (check out my TED talk about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjCzsI74R6M).
Perhaps the most important skill I've begun to master is the ability to learn from the people around me. I'm inspired constantly by people I meet in both my professional and personal life. I enjoy sharing and exchanging idea's and views, especially with those who are passionate about something. I'd like to hear from you as well. If you have anything to share or tell me, even if it's just that I'm plain wrong about something, don't hesitate to send me a message.
Thanks,
Ian
