Ian Schlakman

Ian Schlakman is the owner and manager of the Baltimore City information technology, web development and digital / social media company Civilization Systems LLC. This small business consisting of roughly a half dozen information worker professionals proudly helps schools, non-profits, startups and small businesses in the Chesapeake area.

Ian is a seasoned and accomplished Information Technology and Security professional. Microsoft Certified Professional, Apple Certified Support Professional, Apple Certified Technical Coordinator, Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+, Network+, Security+ & Strata: Green IT, Certified Information Systems Security Professional - CISSP ® from (ISC)² are just a few of the many certificates and accolades he holds in this field.

Originally from Saint James, NY Ian now lives and works in the village of Fells Point in Baltimore City, MD. He's married to local author Vanessa Holub. He's a Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout.

He serves actively on the boards of several non profits including BLEWS (Black / Jewish Forum of Baltimore), CSBA (Chesapeake Sustainble Business Alliance aka Baltimore's Buy Local Campaign) and BGCA (Baltimore Green Currency Association the founders of the BNOTE, Baltimore's local currency) where he serves on the board as the treasurer for the organization. Ian is also an Associated Black Charities Maryland Board Pipeline Professional and one of the founders of The Change Fund for ABC-MD.
