As a kid, I grew up listening and watching various concerts featuring orchestras. I told my mom, “I want to be like those musicians someday!”. I was always fascinated by instrumentalists and fortunately, my parents were able to support me throughout my journey as a violinist. They made me attend all the workshops I needed in order to become better and better. When I got into college, I thought of paying it forward. I started teaching young children in “Sayaral” (a company in Cainta, Rizal which also caters to teaching young individuals who aspire to become great musicians in the future.
I also never expected myself to have become a placer in NAMCYA (National Music Competitions for Young Artists) back in 2018 as I won third prize. For me it was already a big achievement.
Quoting it from the world-renowned violinist, Itzhak Perlman, he said, “Never miss an opportunity to teach; when you teach others, you teach yourself.”
I would always be thankful to all the professors who have guided me in my violin playing. On top of that, I also consider myself being super blessed because ever since I was in high school, I was a scholar of the Philippine High School for the Arts. If it wasn't for all my prior trainings that I took seriously, I wouldn't have been able to qualify at that prestigious school.
Nowadays, I am living the life of an orchestra member and a gig musician. I'm a casual member of the Manila Symphony Orchestra and alongside, I'm currently the concertmaster of the junior orchestra of its foundation (Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra). I have been traveling and doing competitions with this group in 2017-2019 and until now, we are still active in making music together. I attribute my excellent ensemble playing and skills to this organization.
