Ian McConnell
Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States
I've been a bit nomadic over the years, and have now settled into Minnesota, my home state. I'm keen on lots of things: coffee, social justice issues, great conversation, film, music with all the feels, and dancing like an absolute maniac. Building and being part of community is very much a passion and priority for me.
I am attending Luther Seminary, and am pursuing a Master of Divinity to become a Lutheran pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). It's a calling I've felt for many years, and is one that has recently surprised, excited, and captured me. As I study, I'm also working at Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Minneapolis-- a vibrant place with faithful and engaged people. They "do church" in a way I hadn't been familiar with previously, so I'm immensely grateful for them.
Give me a coffee (or beer or wine!), 89.3 The Current, and anything written by Chuck Klosterman, and I'm a happy guy.
Sometime in the summer of 2016, after getting married at the end of May, I will be going on a year-long pastoral internship. I'm very excited (with a healthy dose of nervous) for the opportunity to immerse myself in the practical aspects of pastoral ministry, which I have now been studying for two years.
