Ian Tan
College Lecturer in Alabama
About Me
I was born and raised in Alabama — a typical country kid who spent countless hours running through our sun soaked fields.
Since then, I have had a diverse and rewarding career acros government, private sector and academia. As a Congressional staffer, a community organizer and a consultant with a big four firm, I have seen and felt why democracy is important. The positive role that government can have in the lives of people.
As an academic, I have guest lectured and organized units across the nation on a diverse range of topics including on democratic institutions, political systems, political theory and comparative politics.
Along the way, I’ve been a copy writer, a ghost writer and a speech writer. Taking a break in my career and embarking on a sea change with the family, I now relish my role as a stay at home dad with my two children in sunny Perth, Australia.
I am a proud UWA alum.
