Ian Wetherup

Hi, my name is Ian Wetherup I am currently learning about the fundamentals of becoming a videographer at Durham College. During my time at Durham I plan to stay an extra year to learn more about becoming a videographer so that I’m more than prepared for my future job. I am hoping to eventually become a professional videographer and work for Rogers TV or Rogers Center filming NHL games. While I was in high school I cooped at Rogers TV and had a project that required camera operating, communication and different types of camera angles. Doing this project helped get an idea of what’s to come when I cooped at Rogers TV. Rogers TV taught me the basics as to what it takes to be behind the scenes for TV. They taught me how to set up and operate a camera, how to be a floor director, how to work an audio board and much more. Rogers TV also taught me how to set up for a mobile filming and how it is different from in the studio at their main building. Finally Rogers TV showed me what it’s like to have guests on a show and what is required for me to do when you have guests. Through out my whole time at Rogers TV I was named the best co-op student for the semester for my hard work and ability to communicate with others. These skills helped me to better myself for the future so I know what is going to be expected for my future job.
