Azusa, California USA
My name is Ramil A, Ibarra, RN from Southern California. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Far Eastern University Manila, Philippines in 1987. I migrated here in the United States 1987 with my mother a year after my father died. We are a family of eight and I am the second of the eight siblings. I started my nursing career in Southern California 1987 and at that time I set my goal to be a critical care nurse and to help my family to cope up with the early loss of our father emotionally and financially. I grew up in the Philippines and have acquired the Asian cultural tradition to help my relatives and I am very fortunate to say that I have two brothers and three sisters working as a nurse.
I have been working as a critical care nurse for 26 years. I have the opportunity working with Dr. Vaughn Starnes who pioneered the living related double-lung transplantation at USC-University Hospital from 1991 to 1997 as cardio-thoracic critical care nurse but my objective to further my nursing never stop never stop at USC-University hospital. I have work in several hospitals in Southern California leveraging in depth knowledge of hospital accreditation, community standards, and core measures that lead me to worked as a director of critical care from 1998-2000 and eventually became a director of acute care services from 2000-2003 but an illness hinders me to stay in nursing management and decided to go back to do bedside nursing. I became clinical instructor from 2009-2010. While teaching nursing I have noticed changes in nursing standards, core measures, advancement of medical treatment, and procedure and made me think that I may lose my nursing bedside skills so I decided to work as an ICU nurse and currently working at Kindred Hospital.
Recently inducted at Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing as a member of Omicron Delta Chapter University of Phoenix July 15, 2013 at Costa Mesa, California. Completed my Master's Degree in Nursing Specializing in Nursing Education at University of Phoenix July 2013.
