Ida Sjöman
Helsinki, Finland
My name is Ida and I’m a Masters Degree student from Helsinki, Finland. I am writing my Thesis in Helsinki University in the communication department. Having completed my BA in Kingston University London in 2013 and spending a lot of time working with new digital media I have grown an interest in the contemporary media environment. I am interested in researching and challenging hegemonic ideas and convention in todays media use.
Not only am I aiming to become a media professional and expert in my field, I am a crazy sport enthusiast. Dating back to the beginning of 1990′s I have been involved in different sports and activities. I have been a competitive swimmer for almost of decade and actively skied my whole life. After reaching my twenties I have found new sports such as crossfit to fulfil my need to move and workout. I’m also a certified FAF personal trainer. In sports my heart goes to everything functional, I think that our body is the best machine we can have and thus we need to be aware that our actions and lifestyles effect on our well being as whole. I strongly argue that through exercise we are supposed to get more energy to execute our daily activities rather that to exercise to lose that energy.
