I was born in Perth and raised in the 'Kingdom o' Fife'. Following a classical education at Dollar and Perth Academies, joined the Royal Air Force as an electronics apprentice. Later, managed to spend several years on Avro Shackleton aircraft searching for intrusive, Soviet submarines or harassing the odd spy-trawler! Aso saw active service in Cyprus, Aden and Labuan.

I am a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Economics and Fellow of the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management (F.Inst.SMM).

On leaving the RAF I joined Robert Maxwell's Pergammon Press before joining American publishers, Holt, Reinhart & Winston, working in that company's London and New York offices. Visited East and West Germany and the Czech Republic, attending book fairs. I was appointed Public Relations Officer with British Rail and later became the first Commercial Officer for ScotRail.
Formed my own PR consultancy building a blue-chip client base in the UK and abroad.

Now officially 'retired' I maintain a busy writing schedule with two published novels and a third in the pipeline. My collection of 'nearly made it' books however, convinces me that the world of publishing is the only place in the world where you can actually die of encouragement!

I'm married to Madelaine, 'the present, expensive Mrs Dewar' and we are usually looking after after several, 'ailing' cats!
