Ian studied at University of Birmingham and Central School of Speech and Drama, and trained at Ecole Philippe Gaulier.

Ian has recently worked as Physical Comedy Consultant on 'Comedy of Errors', directed by Alex Clifton, for Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre at Chester Performs.

Recent work as director includes: Tender Loving Care (New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth), The Last March (Southwark Playhouse and Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter), Different is Dangerous (New Diorama Theatre), South Asian Literature Festival (The Bush Theatre, London), Tamasha New Writers’ Scheme (Soho Theatre, London), Aesop’s Fables (Key Theatre, Peterborough), The Taming of the Shrew (Romulan Taiteellinen Teatteri, Finland), Animal Farm (Arcola Theatre, London), and Transmissions New Writing Festival (Birmingham Repertory Theatre).

His work as assistant director includes: Every Last Trick (dir. Paul Hunter, Royal and Derngate, Northampton), Jekyll and Hyde-ish (dir. Sean Holmes, Lyric Hammersmith), Mr Whatnot (dir. Cal McCrystal, Royal and Derngate, Northampton) and Oedipussy, (dir. Emma Rice, Royal and Derngate, Northampton).

Ian’s company, Old Salt Theatre, are an associate company of the New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth.
