Isabelle Docto

Toronto, Ontario

I'm a vertically challenged Filipina Vancouverite attending Ryerson University to pursue a career in journalism.

As a journalist, I hope to bring to light issues that may be obscured by the clutter in the world and also want to help people along the way.

Currently, I'm a staff reporter for The Eyeopener at Ryerson, a staff reporter for the Ryerson Folio Magazine and am a freelance news correspondent for The Filipino Channel's, Balitang Canada, a weekly news show focusing on the budding Filipino community in the country. I am also a freelance reporter for the Philippine Canadian Inquirer, a Vancouver newspaper.

Most of my experience is in print reporting, but I'm eager to learn about other platforms such as radio, online, and television. International relations, immigration, politics, culture, and music are topics that I'm passionate about.

I aspire to work with news organizations like the National Geographic, the National Post, the BBC, or AlJazeera.
