Ignacio Arechederra

Having studied engineering at Maritime and Coastguard Agency schools in Great Britain, Chief Engineer Ignacio Arechederra is one of only 190 people in the world to possess the highest yacht engineer license from the United Kingdom. Ignacio Arechederra began yachting in 1999; his previous experience includes three and a half years serving as the project engineer on the largest yacht vessel built in the United States. Primarily responsible for maintaining mega yachts, Ignacio Arechederra oversees engineers onboard the boat, conducts equipment repairs, ensures the vessel is in compliance with international maritime legislation, and monitors the general safety of both the watercraft and the people aboard it. As a project engineer, Ignacio Arechederra has directed more than 50 contractors per day, supervising the construction of vessels in compliance with structural specifications and leading quality control efforts. He has also led cost saving analyses for projects, offered advice and expertise on systems design improvement, and overseen the installation of OEM, electrical cabling, and piping layouts. In his spare time, Ignacio Arechederra enjoys participating in many sports, but especially likes practicing martial arts, surfing, and snowboarding. He cites Paulo Coelho as one of his favorite authors, and The Pilgrimage - known in Portuguese as El Peregrino de Compostela (Diario de un mago) - as one of his favorite reads.
