Anje
Designer, Art Director, and Artist in Los Angeles, California
I'm Anje, the heart and soul of and humble artisan jeweler behind •{Iki•Shibui}•, who has been in love with Japanese theory and philosophy of design, involving the ideas of •{wabi•sabi}• since my Genesis.
My jewelry and Esoteric designs are inspired by the the idea of •{wabi•sabi}•, which means •{finding beauty in imperfection}• or {•perfectly imperfect•} and the beautiful imperfections are visible to the human eye, but admired and loved.
Wabi-sabi (侘寂?) represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. Wabi means modest, unobtrusive humble beauty, that is waiting to be discovered. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is •{"imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete"}•. It is a concept derived from the Buddhist teaching of the three marks of existence (三法印 sanbōin?), specifically impermanence (無常 mujō?), the other two being suffering (苦 ku?) and emptiness or absence of self-nature (空 kū?).
Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, asperity (roughness or irregularity), simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy, and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes.
Each jewelry piece that is designed, is made using imperfectly perfect and beautiful stones, that are natural and untreated. Some are chipped, flawed, imperfect, far from the 3c's in stone ratings; but are still considered to be beautiful because of these very factors. It takes a special type of person, or a beautiful and unique soul to see a piece that isn't perfect •{perfectly imperfect}• or •{perfectly beautiful}• and still love, want and treasure it, as if it were as valuable as the Hope diamond or a perfect stone. This is the sole idea and theory that I hope to instill and convey to admirers in my designs and pieces. The world is far from perfect, and so are we as humans who make this world go around. Don't be a stranger! If you'd like to see more of my work, purchase, connect, chat or collaborate, then be my guest. I love meeting of the minds and connecting the dots and or painting a canvass to create a masterpiece!
