ilker ortaç

İlker Ortaç is an Istanbul-based Marxist writer, illustrator, photographer and visual artist. His work moves between literature and visual art, combining grotesque, underground and expressive imagery with themes of the body, disability, identity, power, urban life and social exclusion.

He is the author of three published works of fiction and has also worked in short film, portrait photography, illustration and independent publishing. His visual practice includes portraits of musicians and cultural figures such as Thom Yorke, Nick Cave, Kurt Cobain and Anthony Kiedis, alongside original characters and works addressing the politics of the body and representation.

Ortaç’s work is shaped by alternative culture, underground literature, rock music and a critical approach to dominant representations of the body and society. As an artist with cerebral palsy, disability is not treated simply as a subject in his work, but as a lived position from which questions of visibility, normality, exclusion and power are explored.

He currently works independently in Istanbul across writing, illustration, photography and visual art.
